New Beginnings Education Center

New Beginnings (formerly known as Crossroads and Cornerstone) is the only public alternative school for the Osceola School District. The school serves Kindergarten thru 12th grade students, who are regular education and ESE (exceptional education). All students are recommended for placement through the district Student Services department or the ESE department and may be placed for a minimum of 1 successful semester to a maximum of 2 years.

No Early Release on Three Wednesdays during FCAT Testing - April 16, April 23, and April 30, 2014

The Osceola County School District is planning ahead for the spring administration of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) by allowing students to have a full day of school on the Wednesdays when the test will be administered. As such, parents should be advised that there will be no early release of students on the following Wednesdays:

• April 16, 2014 • April 23, 2014 • April 30, 2014

Students will be dismissed from school those days as they normally would on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 1:13pm.

Important News ...

Attention: Parents, Students, Business Partners, and Visitors:

WE ARE HAVING A SOCK DRIVE!

We are starting up our own “Karing Kloset” and do not have any socks to start with.

We would like to have enough socks to finish this school year and to begin the new 2014-15 school year.

We are having a sock drive for our disadvantaged students. Any student that brings in either a package of 2 or 3 pairs of socks or the larger packages will receive a ticket to our “Believe Store” to purchase any one item. Please remember these have to be either all black or all white socks. Socks can be in packages of 2, 3 or larger packages. Anyone else will receive a “great big thank you” for your generosity!

Students can give the packages to either Joann Poe or Edwin Rios. All others may drop them off at the Front Desk to our attention.

Thanking you in advance for your thoughtfulness and kindness. Have a great Day!

Main Idea:
The main idea is a one sentence summary of the entire passage. The answer choices may give the details of the story. However, the main idea tells the whole story in one sentence, not just some of the details. You should write or pick the answer that tells the whole story in one sentence.
To find the main idea, ask yourself, “What point is the author trying to make?” Find the idea that all of the details support. Say to yourself, “All of these details are about_______.”
